At Energiepark Bad Lauchstädt, work is purposefully progressing towards overall commissioning next year. While the final construction work is being carried out on the plants themselves, the partners are already preparing the joint commissioning processes – these are the coordinated technical and organizational steps with which each plant is gradually tested, checked, and finally put into operation.
Progress on the Electrolysis Plant
Deliveries for the second module (another 10 MW) of the electrolyser plant are now fully complete. For the first module, the final work on the connection lines is underway. These connect the parts within an electrolyser module and between the individual system components, enabling the transport of process-relevant media such as nitrogen, cooling water, or potassium hydroxide solution. This means the first module is technically almost complete.
In parallel, the commissioning of the ancillary systems continues to advance. These are essential for the later operation of the electrolyser and are being tested and prepared step by step.
Gas Treatment Nearing Completion
Progress is also being made in gas treatment, the step where the produced hydrogen will later be brought to the required purity: This year’s work is largely finished. The last control cabinets will be delivered and installed at the beginning of 2026. With these final elements, the plant will be fully completed.
Looking Ahead to 2026: Integrated Commissioning
An important milestone for the overall completion of the energy park has also been initiated: ONTRAS and TotalEnergies have begun coordinating the joint commissioning processes. This preparation is crucial to connect all stages of the value chain next year – from production and treatment to feed-in and off-take.
With these advancements, Energiepark Bad Lauchstädt continues to lay important groundwork for the next major stage this November. Step by step, the individual plant components are coming together, paving the way for all parts of the project to operate as a complete system for the first time next year.
