Handover of the new transformer station for the Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park by MITNETZ STROM

Today, Wednesday 20 December 2023, Mitteldeutsche Netzgesellschaft Strom mbH (MITNETZ STROM) handed over a newly built substation to representatives of Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park. This transformer station, which was specially designed for the operation of the Energy Park, plays a crucial role in the transmission of the green electricity generated in the wind park to the electrolysis plant.

The successful completion of the transformer station represents another important step in the construction of the Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park. The handover took place after an intensive phase of tests and functional and safety checks. Final work and tests are also currently being carried out on the medium-voltage cable route between the wind farm and the substation. The completion of this project in the near future will mark the successful connection of the wind farm to the transformer station.

In the first phase, the substation will supply the wind turbines with power to enable the final work on the turbines. Once the first wind turbines have been completed, it is planned to feed the electricity generated there into the grid in the coming year. With the commissioning of the electrolyser, which is also currently under construction and is expected to take place in 2025, the substation will ultimately act as a central interface between the wind farm, electrolyser and high-voltage grid.
