News from the construction site – The November update
At the Energiepark Bad Lauchstädt, work is progressing steadily toward full commissioning next year. While the final construction work is being carried out on the plants themselves, the partners are already preparing the joint commissioning processes – these are the coordinated technical and organisational steps with which each plant is gradually tested, checked and finally put into operation.
Progress on the electrolysis plant
Deliveries for the second module (an additional 10 MW) of the electrolysis plant are now complete. Final work is now underway on the connecting lines for the first module. These connect the parts within an electrolysis module and between the individual system components, enabling the transport of process-relevant media such as nitrogen, cooling water, and potash lye. This means that the first module is now almost complete from a technical standpoint.
At the same time, commissioning of the auxiliary systems is continuing. These are essential for the subsequent operation of the electrolysis plant and are being tested and prepared step by step.
Gas processing nearly complete
The project is also making progress in gas processing, the stage in which the hydrogen produced is later brought to the required purity: Work for this year is largely complete. The last switch cabinets will be delivered and installed in early 2026. With these final elements, the plant will be fully completed.
Looking ahead to 2026: Commissioning in the network
An important milestone for the overall completion of the energy park has also been reached: ONTRAS and TotalEnergies have begun coordinating the joint commissioning processes. This preparation is crucial in order to connect all stages of the value chain – from production and processing to feed-in and consumption – in the coming year.
With these advances, the Energiepark Bad Lauchstädt is continuing to lay important foundations for the next major stage in November. Step by step, the individual plant components are coming together, paving the way for all parts of the project to work together as a complete system for the first time next year.
