Evacuation drill and safety training at electrolysis construction site
For the consortium partners involved in the Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park, “Safety first” is not just an empty phrase, but a principle that is brought to life every day by all those involved on the construction sites just outside the town with historical links to Goethe, the German national poet. For this reason, an evacuation drill was recently held at the electrolyser construction site, as well as a special training session for the employees of the companies working there. This is because a particular challenge on the construction site, which is jointly managed by Uniper and VNG H&V, is the coordination of the various trades and service providers when it comes to occupational health and safety. For the first time, a comprehensive evacuation exercise has now taken place on the electrolyser construction site in order to be able to react appropriately in the event of an emergency. A siren was used to simulate an emergency and everyone on the site had to get to the assembly point as quickly as possible. This was followed by a specific safety briefing on handling angle grinders and working at heights. This special training complements the usual safety briefings that every new person working on the construction site must complete, as well as the training on safety standards that the respective trades receive as standard through their companies. At the beginning of 2024, the aim was to raise the awareness and attention of everyone involved in the safe handling of daily work on the large-scale electrolysis construction site.
